Job Description

 

The Position

 

Under the guidance of the immediate manager, this position provides direct academic coaching and support functions. This position also supports the recruitment of student participants with the ultimate goal of student degree completion. Classification: Casual Duration: As Needed

 

What You Will Do

 

1. Monitors student academic progress by employing college administrative systems; provides coaching, advice and makes referrals to internal and external resources (including crisis interventions, counseling, tutoring, etc.) and other services to address students' needs.

2. Under the guidance of the immediate manager or other designated department personnel; provides support with student outreach activities and coaching sessions geared towards academic success.

3. Attends EOF community events; assists in promoting academic coaching; presentations and events.

4. Frequently and proactively communicates with students to support academic success via digital messaging (LMS) emails, telephone calls and postal service.

5. Establishes cooperative, collaborative reporting relationships with students, and faculty and staff.

6. Collaborates with students to create an academic plan/strategy to achieve student success.

7. Provides one-on-one and/or group academic coaching sessions to promote academic success; manages assigned student caseload that documents academic coaching sessions and all interactions with students.

8. Maintains accurate, organized, completed and detailed records on assigned students.

9. Completes designated training.

10. Related assistance and duties as assigned.

 

The Successful Candidate Must Have

 

1. Bachelor's Degree in psychology, sociology, education or related academic discipline.

2. Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.

3. Exceptional interpersonal skills.

4. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; database experience requiring skills to create standard documents/reports; prior experience with web-based tools.

 

Even Better If You Have

 

1. Prior administrative experience providing direct student development services to students that involved working with traditionally under-served, academically at-risk and/or first-generation student populations.

2. Prior teaching experience.
