The Department of Art invites applications for a 1-year visiting assistant professor position in DIGITAL MEDIA, beginning August 2020. Preference will be given to candidates with a Masters in Visual Communications or a related field at the time of appointment. Excellent teaching and mentoring of students are the highest priorities of the College. Experience with the liberal arts is highly desired.
Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in the candidate’s area of specialization (graphic design and web design courses) as well as other courses required for the major, such as Advanced Digital Media and Introduction Digital Media. Standard annual teaching load is 21 credits (3:1:3), which includes one course in our intensive January term. While the department’s digital courses do serve students majoring or minoring in art, they also include a substantial number of students from the Business Department’s Marketing and Digital Media Major. The successful candidate will have a strong background in design, with knowledge of the Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, HTML, and CSS. Candidates should also be able to work successfully with students with a variety of academic interests, and varying skill levels in the arts. Modest funds are available for faculty conference travel.
Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States as of the expected hire date and throughout the date of the contract without sponsorship from the College.

Applications should include a cover letter, CV, statement of teaching philosophy that clearly articulates a commitment to liberal arts education, evidence of teaching effectiveness, statement of research interests, and 3 letters of recommendation. At least one letter must address teaching.
