Responsible for performing a variety of routine maintenance tasks including general mechanical, electrical, AC, plumbing and carpentry repairs. Maintains and repairs physical structure of buildings and maintains the grounds of the College. Performs preventative maintenance on equipment consistent with equipment recommendations. Assists with set up of campus events and internal building and office relocations, to include moving furniture and equipment. Ability to work a fluctuating schedule and rotating weekends.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Keep department and campus facilities in clean, litter-free and in an orderly condition.
Assist in repairing and maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment for campus or college.
Maintain and repair physical structure of building and maintain grounds of campus or college.
Tend furnace, air conditioner, and boiler to provide heat, cool air, and hot water for students and employees.
Assist Electrician or Maintenance Electrician to install and repair electrical wiring, fixture, and equipment.
Patch and plaster walls and install fire extinguisher as required.
Prepare material list for Director of Facilities and/or Supervisor to order materials and supplies to complete assigned tasks.
Determine malfunctions and repair and/or operate existing electrical appliance and equipment.
Replace defective or obsolete electric light bulbs, fuses, lamps, and fixtures.
Clean clogged drains and toilets and assist in performing other plumbing repairs.
Routinely operate light equipment and various attachments including dump truck, bucket trucks and other related equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment consistent with equipment recommendations.
Change filter in air conditioners; perform plumbing and electrical repairs on heating and air conditioning or other mechanical system as required.
Move or assist in the moving of furniture and equipment as required and provide set-ups for various spaces throughout campus.
Repair and maintain both door and window hardware to insure proper operation and legal compliance of door and window hardware.
Pressure clean college buildings and walkways.
Handle ongoing radio dispatcher duties.
Inspect equipment and machinery for safe operation. Report any observed problems to supervisor.
Perform regularly scheduled maintenance on equipment and machinery.
Maintain electrical systems including air conditioning, light fixtures, and other electrical components.
Repair faulty or damaged equipment as needed. Respond to a variety of service order calls. Troubleshoot maintenance problems.
Perform general clean up or grounds keeping duties according to the needs of the department. Haul collected debris to onsite refuse collection location.
Routinely operate vehicles including moving van and bucket truck in performing job duties.
Maintain and perform in a safe workplace.
Follow established safety practices.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED with additional training related to the position.
Minimum of one year related experience, and experience in maintenance and repair of buildings, and experience in maintenance, repair, including installation of equipment.
Licenses, Registrations, Certifications, or Special Requirements:
Valid Florida driver's license.
Regular attendance required.
Preferred:
Computer proficiency.

Ability to:
Use a variety hand/power tools, machines and equipment.
Work Environment and Physical Demand:
Lift, carry, push, pull, install or remove objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds.
Reach and grasp objects.
Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Stand for extended periods of time.
Use of manual dexterity and fine motor skill.
Identify and distinguish colors and shades of color.
Communicate information orally and in writing.
Receive and understand information through oral and written communication.
Work with equipment or perform procedures where carelessness may result in injury.
Experience exposure to uncomfortable work environment due to extreme temperature, noise level and other conditions.
Operate a motor vehicle.
Work a fluctuating work schedule.
