The Nursing Department at NHCC is an engaged faculty interested in delivering the highest level of instruction to our students. Faculty members work as a team to consistently deliver content to students interested in pursuing their Associate Degree in Nursing – ADN. NHCC nursing is part of the Minnesota Alliance for Nursing Education (MANE Consortium). In this alliance students could earn their baccalaureate degree in Nursing at Metro state University after completion of Semester 5 at NHCC.

• Teach nursing courses (lecture, laboratory, and clinical).
• Teach in traditional as well as alternative delivery modes, including, but not limited to, asynchronous online format.
• Develop and revise instructional and assessment materials.
• Participate in the assessment of student learning outcomes.
• Participate in discipline, division, and college matters through service on committees and attendance at regular meetings.
• Practice contemporary teaching strategies, including learner outcome assessments and online instruction.
• Maintain continued professional development in Nursing as well as in the areas of teaching and learning.

Education Requirement
Master’s degree with a major in nursing, nursing administration, nursing education, public health nursing or a nursing clinical specialty.

Occupational Experience Requirement
Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.

Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Professional Requirement
Current Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license.

• Ph.D. or DNP in nursing (with focus in education, and administration).
• Experience as primary instructor teaching college level nursing including laboratory and clinical
• Experience teaching undergraduates in a community college setting.
• Evidence of commitment to student success and persistence.
• Experience with learner outcomes assessment and evaluation.
• Demonstrated ability to educate adult learners, multi-lingual learners, students with disabilities, and international students.
• Experience serving diverse and historically underserved populations.
• Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Working knowledge of alternative instructional techniques and delivery methods such as online education, education platforms (D2L Brightspace), digital technology, etc.
• Experience in online teaching or demonstrated willingness to learn and develop online courses.
• Exceptional team player who is willing to devote time to students and the department.

Full-Time faculty salaries currently range from $37,437 – $82,417 annually. Salary schedule placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2017-2019 Master Agreement between the Minnesota State Board of Trustees and the Minnesota State College Faculty (MSCF).

Full-time, unlimited faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance; life insurance; optional dental, short-and long-term disability and long-term care insurance; paid personal and sick leave; defined benefits and defined contribution plans; optional 457(b) and 403(b) retirement savings plans and tuition waiver for employees and dependents.
