The Stella and Charles Guttman Community College is the City University of New York’s newest community college in 40 years. As a very young institution, Guttman Community College requires flexibility and a broad range of skills and competencies from candidates in every position. Located in midtown Manhattan, Guttman was established with the goal of significantly improving student learning, retention and graduation, by rethinking community college education and practice. Guttman Community College is a federally-designated Hispanic Serving Institution with a culturally diverse student body drawn from across New York City. A majority of our students enroll directly out of high school. The College is committed to using a range of innovative approaches in order to achieve its goals and to improve student persistence and completion. The centerpiece of Guttman’s educational model is an integrated first-year core curriculum that builds the academic, linguistic and affective skills necessary for success in college and career. Additional features of the model include using New York City as a context for learning in and out of the classroom, the integration of academic and student support services, and the use of ePortfolios. Guttman currently offers five majors: business administration, information technology, human services, liberal arts and sciences, and urban studies, and will offer additional programs in the future. The College admitted its first cohort of 300 students in August 2012. At full capacity, Guttman will enroll 3,000 to 5,000 students. The Single Stop Office provides services and resources to help students address barriers that prevent them from attending and completing school. We provide this service in collaboration with both internal and external partners. The mission is to slash poverty by bridging the information gap that separates low-income students and families from life-changing benefits and services that remain untapped and inaccessible - tax credits, health insurance, food stamps, child-care, financial counseling, legal assistance and other essential services.
The Single Stop Manager at Guttman Community College is responsible for being the administrative anchor of the Single Stop program and serves in a leadership capacity within the Division of Student Engagement. As a Unit Leader, the Single Stop Manager is responsible for all assessment, budgeting, report writing (annual, grants, etc.), representing Student Engagement and Single Stop on relevant committees and College governance, and supporting other relevant initiatives as required for the Division. Unit Leaders are also actively involved in team meetings and contribute to the Division’s strategic planning relevant to their role and their unit. Reporting to the Deputy to the Dean of Student Engagement, the Single Stop Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:
- Develop and implement programming, services, and learning opportunities for students to promote the personal, professional, and financial development of a diverse student population.
- Coordinate integration of partnering service providers, and cultivate new partnerships (e.g., city agencies, not-for-profit organizations, external and internal organizations, etc.) into holistic service provision by monitoring the scheduling of client appointments and facilitating referrals to support student development and growth.
- Facilitate workshops, support student programs, build resource and partnership library, develop all marketing materials, maintain the website, and manage all other administrative areas of the Single Stop Office.
- Administer one or more student affairs programs; provide program management and assistance with policy development and report preparation; participate in divisional and college trainings; and contribute to peer learning systems at the College.
- Take lead in program research, data analysis, program assessments, and report on activities, client data and interactions (including client contact, referrals, and outcomes) to modify and continuously improve program materials in response to feedback and annual divisional and institutional strategic planning.
- Manage all food, financial, and housing insecurity programming for the College.
- Supervise Single Stop staff and oversee staff development to ensure efficient and effective operations within the Single Stop Office.
Bachelor’s degree and six years’ related experience required.
- Master's in Social Work, Public Policy, Public Administration, Counseling, Higher Education Administration or a related field; licensed Social Workers preferred.
- Related work experience preferably in a nonprofit setting and/or in higher education, with counseling, academic, and/or career advising/student development experience with diverse student populations.
- Evidence of progressive managerial and supervisory responsibilities.
- Proven commitment to working with diverse communities and populations.
- Demonstrable knowledge of student development, learning, and leadership theories; possesses an understanding of the cultural, social, and educational needs of a diverse campus community.
- Ability to work well in a time-sensitive, dynamic, student-centered and responsive office.
- Proficiency and working experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and other software typically used in an academic environment.
- Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; analytical, critical thinking, planning and problem solving skills are essential.
- Strong work ethic, character and personal integrity, and ability to work with the utmost professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Crisis management experience.
- Flexibility to work evening hours and occasional weekends.

- Develops, recommends, and implements program goals and objectives to meet students' specialized needs; coordinates delivery of services across multiple functions, developing new programs and activities as needed
- Advocates for students, and partners with academic and student support functions to ensure students effectively utilize programs and services; collaborates with counselors, mentors, and others assisting students
- Maintains ongoing communications with targeted student population as well as department management, advisory groups, and external organizations
- Collects data for, analyzes, and reports on activities and outcomes
- Performs related duties as assigned.

$63,874 - $78,144
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
