Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Associate Director of Video Production/Feature Producer will work as a member of the Intercollegiate Athletics Video Services staff, and report to the Director of Video Production.

Responsibilities include: Supervise production shoots for the Broadcasting & Production office. Oversee a Production Assistant(s) who will be responsible for executing video content plans for a fall and spring sport. Manages the production, coordination, and in-house creation of external and internal video content. This will include features on current and former student-athletes, coaches, and administrators. Will also include commercials, web and social videos, highlights, banquet videos, and in-venue content.

Act as Executive Producer of All-Access shows. This involves working collaboratively across the external department on scheduling interviews, distribution, and how these shows could impact game attendance and potential revenue. Each olympic sport would receive a set number of episodes each year, and in conjunction with the coaching staff, the Associate Director would help steer episodes to meet the goals of each staff.

Oversee student internship program. Manage the scheduling of student hours and the distribution of social/digital video content for Olympic sports from practice and games. This will include seeing projects all the way through from ideation to delivery. The Associate Director will be responsible for creating, implementing, and holding students accountable to a Maryland Athletics Production Student Manual.

Responsible for videotaping events and athletic contests for inclusion in video content for a multi-platform distribution model. The total number of events will differ based on home sporting contests but will include: football, oversight of four Olympic sports, and include two video board shows. Participate in conceptualizing and collaborating with departmental units and coaching staffs on compelling video stories to be produced across the athletics department. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelors degree required in Video Production, graphic design, or a related field with experience.

Experience:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience with non-linear editing (Premiere, Final Cut) with an emphasis on video production for social platforms.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability in videography and lighting.
  • Proficiency with Mac systems and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to produce and create exciting audiovisual mediums.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends.

Preferences:

Preferences:
Preference will be given to those candidates with collegiate or professional sports production experience, and to those with provable experience in 3 and 4D compositing.

The scope of the position frequently requires weekend and evening work (Non-standard work hours). While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates a camera, computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; Constantly moves about the facility and event site before, during and after events to service clients; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information. Standing, walking, kneeling/crouching, balancing and lifting up to 30 pounds.
