PVCC is seeking a full-time Student Services Specialist. This position is responsible for working with both new and returning students registered with the Disability Resources and Services office (DRS) to assist in the application and implementation of reasonable accommodations. This position also advises on registration procedures, support services, and a variety of general college information to the student.

30% - Review and evaluate students’ disability documentation to determine qualifying status; implements reasonable and appropriate accommodations based on documentation of disability provided by qualified diagnosticians.
20% - Provides information to prospective students and their parents regarding services, university resources, transition questions and concerns, documentation guidelines, and the process for determining reasonable accommodations.
20% - Provides ongoing consultation and training on assistive software or other auxiliary aids for students; maintain confidential student files; monitors 504 compliance requirements; liaises with various faculty and staff to ensure administration of accommodations in a timely and efficient manner.
15% - Hire, train and function as a lead worker for activities and schedules of student workers.
5% - Responsible for ordering and coordinating department supply inventory.
5% - Present general information and conduct trainings about DRS services to groups of prospective and/or current students, and faculty.
5% - Perform other duties as assigned
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in business administration, education or directly related field, and one year of experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
Experience providing disability advising in a college setting
Experience utilizing disability database software, such as DRS Connect, AIM (Accessible Information Management) system or related software
Experience working closely with a multicultural disabled student population in a post-secondary setting
Experience using adaptive software, such as (Kurzweil, Zoom-text)
Experience developing and giving presentations in a post-secondary setting
Strong written communication skills as demonstrated in resume/cover letter
Special Working Conditions
Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving: http://www.maricopa.edu/legal/rmi/vehicle.htm#requirements
Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidate’s own expense
Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations
May require numerous evenings or weekends
May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
May be required to lift or carry up to #25 lbs
