BridgeValley Community and Technical College invites applications for a fulltime faculty position in Business with a focus on Entrepreneurship beginning August 2020. The Entrepreneurship program seeks to prepare graduates to be ready to meet the needs of the industry and become leading professionals in their field. This is achieved through sound theoretical course work, research and innovative learning activities, industry engagement and service learning. The applicant must value a collaborative work environment, entrepreneurial thinking, and interdisciplinary approaches. May supervise student entrepreneurial projects and coordinate/mentor students on professional internship/mentorship opportunities.
The faculty member may teach at both the South Charleston and Montgomery campuses, as well as online. Assignment may involve teaching evenings or weekends. The instructor will be required to hold office hours; maintain student records; participate in department, division, and college meetings; maintain professional development; advise students; and be an active member of college committees and activities.
Summary: 9-month, full-time, renewable term, benefits eligible position. Salary range is from $38,000-$42,000. Actual offer will commensurate with education and experience.
Examples of Duties:
•Teaching 15 credit hours per semester (courses may include Social Media Marketing, Small Business Management, Business Plan Development, and Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship)
•Delivering experiential and applied learning to students
•Coaching students and community members in small business startup activities
•Acting as project manager and team leader and business unit manager for BridgeValley experiential entrepreneurship programs including potential food truck, catering, art gallery, and entertainment venue management
•Service to students, service to the institution and the community, and professional development
•Curriculum assessment, development, and implementation
•Position may involve teaching online, evenings, weekends, or at either campus locations
•Participation in division, department, or general faculty meetings; in-service training; curriculum development; academic consulting; workshops or seminars; service on college committees, or other activities within the scope of the position
•Other duties as assigned
•MBA from an accredited college or university with a track record of engagement with the entrepreneurship community and ability to be the lead for the college's entrepreneurship programs; 3 years recent, relevant teaching experience in higher education
•Master's degree in Entrepreneurship or closely related field AND experience in starting/operating/growing a business and ability to be the lead for the college's entrepreneurship programs; 3 years recent, relevant teaching experience in higher education.
•Experience with applied learning and teaching in work college environment
•Business Ownership Experience
•Recent teaching experience and college or university course work in the areas of entrepreneurship.
•Knowledge of and ability to integrate computer technology in the classroom and be able to use such technology to offer curriculum and instruction through distance delivery modes, as appropriate.
•Understand current and emerging instructional and educational delivery technologies.
•A demonstrated, strong commitment to quality teaching, student success, and academic excellence.
•Possess strong interpersonal skills.
•Experience in curriculum development and online delivery.
•Desire to advise student organizations.
