Description

Under the supervision of the Associate Dean/Instructional Manager, the instructor is responsible for providing instruction to students within the assigned and approved instructional delivery system and in accordance with the mission, goals, policies and procedures of the District. The instructor is responsible for providing an active learning environment to enable students to demonstrate course competencies, and creating a student learning centered environment that places learning at the center of educational experiences.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)

Requires strong organizational skills, good communication skills, ability to effectively deliver instruction, and incorporate technology into teaching of instructional materials. Must be accessible to students and maintain positive relationships with industry-related organizations and businesses. Duties include, but are not limited to, curriculum development and evaluation, committee assignments, student recruitment, and student advising.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent* with education or training preparing a person for the occupational area being taught. Appropriate training may include vendor, manufacturer, in-service or other structured on-the-job training in the occupation. *Educational equivalencyOccupational experience combined with education and training preparing a person for the occupation totaling 7 years or 14,000 hours shall be equivalent to a bachelor's degree. Each academic credit or equivalent credit shall be equal to 110 hours of occupational experience. Master's Degree desirable.

2. Twenty-four months (4,000 hours) of verifiable occupational experience as a fully qualified worker in the occupational area of automation systems technology, of which 2,000 hours shall be within the previous five years. One year (2,000 hours) of related occupation experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.

3. Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and instruct quality education programs.

4. Must be able to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social, and educational backgrounds.

Salary is listed at the 2023-2024 rates.

Hours
This position is Part Time (under 20 hrs./week) and teaches only when school is in session; Hours and times may vary depending on when courses are being taught.
