Chicago State University (CSU), the oldest public university in the Chicago metropolitan area, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean, College of Pharmacy.
Admitting its charter class in 2008, CSU College of Pharmacy (College) offers the Doctor of Pharmacy degree (Pharm.D.) and currently has an enrollment of 291 students. The College has 24 full time faculty across the two departments of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmacy Practice, and the Office of Experiential & Continuing Professional Education. The College is recognized by the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy as having the 10th highest underrepresented minority student enrollment in the country.
The Dean is the chief academic officer responsible for the implementation of all academic and clinical programs, including strategic planning, quality assessment, student and faculty recruitment, resource development and allocation and representation to external entities. Reporting to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean will lead the development and implementation of a bold and exciting vision that will advance the College’s mission in education, service, scholarship and research.
Founded in 1867, CSU offers 34 undergraduate and 27 graduate degree programs to approximately 3,000 students through its Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Health Sciences and Pharmacy and through its Division of Continuing Education and Non-Traditional Programs. Under the leadership of President Zaldwaynaka Scott, whose term began in July 2018, CSU has been committed to the processes of renewal and transformation.
Candidates must have a Pharm.D., Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant academic discipline and be eligible for a faculty appointment at the rank of Professor. We seek candidates with a demonstrated understanding of current and future trends in pharmacy practice and education, interprofessional practice/education and health care. Experience as a strategic leader who has a clear understanding of what it takes to grow and advance academic programs in a competitive higher education environment is required. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial and management skills with the ability to effectively partner with a broad range of constituents internally and externally. The successful candidate will be a persuasive communicator with strong and highly effective interpersonal and collaborative skills.
