The School of Pharmacy is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to become the inaugural associate dean of equity, engagement and justice. The incumbent will be an administrative officer of the School of Pharmacy and is expected to work collaboratively with the PittPharmacy leadership to advance strategic priorities, curricular equity, and policies related to diversity, inclusion, engagement, equity and justice broadly as well as anti-racism specifically. The individual will serve as a liaison with the University, Health Sciences and School of Pharmacy Offices of Diversity and Inclusion as well as the community. The goal is to engage faculty, staff, and students to advance equity and inclusion to assure a just culture. The incumbent will engage with and support faculty, staff, and alumni, particularly underrepresented minorities; will mentor students; will assist in recruitment of underrepresented students, faculty, and staff; and will be encouraged to collaborate in scholarship regarding health equity and related topics.
Requirements for the position include a demonstrated commitment to social justice and equity, demonstrated ability to develop professional alliances, and excellent oral and written communication skills.
All degrees and backgrounds will be considered including and not limited to health disparities, social determinants of health, education and inclusive teaching and learning. The ideal candidate will have a post-baccalaureate degree (PharmD, PhD, or MPH) and experience in pharmacy or a medication-related area. Preferred though not required are experience in building and advancing equity initiatives and a record of scholarship.
