Employment Specifics: Full-Time Faculty (187 days), 1.11 FTE

Note: This is a grant funded position (Ends 6/30/2024)

Position Location: Fort Morgan, CO

This position is responsible for the instruction of GED students in Math & Science or English & Social Studies. This position will coordinate with the Basic Skills Specialist to ensure student needs are being met through careful record-keeping of all facets of student performance including test results, subject gains and attendance. Responsibilities include lesson planning, record-keeping, answering student questions/inquiries via email and phone, grading and providing constructive feedback on assignments, composing course outlines/syllabi, and consistently collaborating and communicating with the Basic Skills Specialist to connect students to opportunities they are interested in post-GED. This position will include teaching times primarily in the mornings/afternoons though in the future could include teaching assignments in the evenings and on weekends, depending on student/community needs. A variety of instructional delivery modalities (synchronous, hybrid, remote) may be employed via Zoom and other platforms. The individual shall perform all duties while promoting opportunities for inclusion, expressing the valuing of differences, and regularly demonstrating the college's commitment to the Guiding Principles.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in education, adult education or related field, from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience teaching high school equivalency preparation (such as GED or Hiset) or in a similar setting.
  • Strong technological skills and experience in using the MS Office suite, remote delivery software such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex or similar; and Learning Management Systems.
  • Strong ability to communicate and interact with culturally diverse and at-risk populations.
  • Willingness to cross-train for other teacher positions in the GED/ESL program.

PREFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual in Spanish or Somali.
  • Adult Basic Education Authorization (ABEA) from the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) or willingness to obtain it within three (3) years of hire.
  • Extensive experience teaching in various modalities (in-person, hybrid, & remote) to diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion.

Salary and Benefits:

$51,632-$60,248 base salary depending on education, skills, and experience. Note: base salary will be prorated for remaining number of contract days to end of grant. Benefits include health, life, dental insurance, vision, LTD & benefit package in accordance with Colorado Community College and Occupational Education System policies. No relocation assistance is provided.

About Morgan Community College (MCC):

MCC is located on I-76, 80 miles northeast of Denver and approximately 100 miles east of Rocky Mountain National Park. MCC provides high quality lower division transferable courses and occupational education culminating in a variety of certificate, associate, and baccalaureate degree programs through traditional, innovative, and non-traditional delivery methods to an 11,500 square mile service area in eastern Colorado.
