Summary of Position

Keene State Colleges Faciilities Service Department invites applications for a Carpenter to perform skilled carpentry work in the maintenance, repair and alternation of buildings and structures on our beautiful campus located in Keene, NH. Candidates with experience with locking mechanisms, door hardware, key /code generation and distribution are highly desired. This is a full-time, benefited position.

Other minimum qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working with door hardware, locks, and closers.
  • Professional carpentry experience required, preferably focused on door installation/maintenance.
  • Basic computer skills needed for email, work order system etc.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the trade.
  • Required to obtain Master Locksmith Certificate within 1 year of hire.
  • Position involves heavy lifting, working in a variety of workplace conditions and the ability to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.
  • Post-offer, pre-employment physical exam required.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and a safe driving history.
  • Must be able to participate in emergency on-call rotation, as needed.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with a wide variety of electronic locks.
  • Master Locksmith Certificate.
  • Experience with electronic locks, management software and key inventory system.
  • Familiarity with work management systems.

  • Complete work orders related to carpentry with a focus on doors, hardware, and closers.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Re-key, install/change codes from code/key requests and maintain accurate records according to USNH guidelines.
  • Perform building audits and update records from remodels and new installation.
  • Repair and install locks, closers, panic hardware, and all equipment associated with carpentry and locksmith position as needed.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Maintain, develop, and implement the KSC ASSA master keying system.
  • Review, interpret, and develop the keying system for all new construction and major renovations on campus.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Maintain inventory of all lock shop supplies and parts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
