Performs a variety of work in the custodial, grounds cleanup, and light maintenance of one or more campus buildings, office, or related facilities.
Education and Experience:
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, plus reading and writing skills sufficient to perform duties and read and understand MSDS sheets. Prior custodial experience is preferred.
A temporary maintenance custodial substitute pool is established to ensure custodial services are maintained during the absence of regular employees.
Performs a variety of custodial duties, ensuring that assigned stations present a clean, safe, and usable condition. Sweeps, vacuums and cleans carpets; scrubs, mops, strips, and applies floor finishes; cleans windows; dusts furniture and fixtures; cleans restrooms; and cleans waste receptacles.
Maintains and makes minor repairs to equipment and fixtures associated with custodial services. Notifies others of the need for major repairs.
Installs window coverings.
Assembles, repairs, and transports furniture and equipment. Sets up meeting rooms, classrooms, and other campus facilities for special meetings and events. May set up seating and equipment for athletic events.
Keeps outside areas surrounding buildings clear of debris, trash, leaves, etc. Cleans debris from smoking areas.
Moves furniture and equipment. Sets up meeting rooms, classrooms, and other campus facilities for special meetings and events. May set up seating and equipment for athletic events.
Secures campus buildings in the evening. Turns lights on and off. Unlocks and locks doors and gates. Raises and lowers flags. Checks doors, windows, and assigned area for vandalism. Reports safety, sanitary, and fire hazards.
Responds to emergency cleanup needs at anytime, including evenings and weekends.
Maintains adequate supply of various supplies and equipment used in the course of work.
May require the use of equipment such as forklift, golf cart, or department vehicle.
Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position.
