Description:

Compensation: $54,786-$63,522 plus benefits including 100% employer paid premiums for employee medical, dental and vision premiums and 75% employer paid premiums for dependent coverage, and participation in the Oregon PERS retirement system.

The college has a monthly payroll of approximately 150-200 employees that include multiple employee classifications including staff, faculty and student workers. We are a rural community college, sized perfectly to be dynamic, nimble and innovative. We serve a full-time equivalency (FTE) of approximately 750 students, with a total headcount of approximately 4,000 students.

Columbia Gorge Community College is located in an area of exceptional scenic beauty, recreational opportunity, and climatic diversity. The Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area offers spectacular waterfalls and scenic vistas, while the majestic Mt. Adams and Mt. Hood volcanoes dominate the skyline to the north and south. Outdoor recreation is one of the primary lifestyle benefits of the area, and it attracts a busy tourist industry. Portland is only an hour away, with its various urban attractions and access to international travel.

Requirements:

 

EXPERIENCE

Must have 2-3 years experience in Payroll practices, to include working with computerized human resources/payroll systems, tax reporting, and benefit administration. Experience managing a payroll process of 200+ employees monthly a plus. Public sector experience preferred.

 

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

Experience promoting equity-minded and diversely represented communications and materials, experience in responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practices.

Bachelor degree in accounting or closely related field, and/or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience required.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to successfully complete advanced, complex payroll assignments and work independently.
  • Present a positive image of the College in the broader community.
  • Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of communication strategy and action.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
  • Ability to effectively present information to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Proficient in computerized spreadsheets, relational databases, and word processing.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of principles of accounting, statistics, audit practices, generally accepted accounting principles and government accounting.
