Answer calls, emails, and in-person questions concerning accommodation requests from current and potential students. Inform those requesting ADA accommodations of the process necessary to qualify for and receive accommodations. Document all ADA calls and requests and maintain notes and files for future reference. Maintain files on current and inactive ADA students. Maintain a high degree of tact and discretion when dealing with confidential information, especially in ADA student notes and files. Collaborate with OSD Director to create, edit, and maintain all forms necessary to serve ADA students. Scan and index ADA student files to Docubase system for use when at Wichita Falls location.
Work with Texas Workforce Solutions personnel and the Vernon College Business Office personnel in the execution of the Vernon College contract regarding interpreter/CART payments. Plan meetings with Wichita Falls ADA students to sign for accommodations at the beginning of each semester. Send reminder letters and Remind 101 texts to ADA students and prepare instructor letters for each student. Prepare adequate supplies of all necessary forms. Accompany OSD Coordinator to Wichita Falls campus to assist in meeting with ADA students at all open registrations or arrange TEAMS meetings with students to sign paperwork. Email ADA accommodations forms to distance learning instructors. Follow up with instructors if signed forms are not returned within two weeks. Maintain an inventory of digital recorders for use by qualified ADA students. Place holds on registration, grades, and transcripts for those who do not return recorders by the deadline.
Research, discuss with OSD Coordinator, and order any needed alternative furniture, equipment, supplies, and textbooks for qualified ADA students. Track all OSD-purchased alternative furniture, equipment, and aids and be responsible for locating them and storing them as appropriate. Enter ADA services information into shared drive for use by authorized PASS Department staff. Collect, tally, and summarize satisfaction surveys for the Office for Students with Disabilities, Interpreter Services, Quiet Testing Services, and the Tutoring Centers. Order supplies for PASS Department staff at all locations and maintain all files for the Director. Assist with editing and final presentation of grant-writing projects. Assist with off-campus operations for all aspects of the PASS Department.
Associate's degree or equivalent. Experience working with students or the public; extensive experience or training in Excel and Word. Typing, answering the phone, working with students and parents of disabled students. Excellent organizational skills. Excellent grammar and literary skills. Excellent customer service.
Bachelor's degree in English or equivalent experience in Secretarial Administration. Experience in Microsoft TEAMS. Experience with ADA accommodations or issues.
This is a full-time position with full Vernon College benefits available November 1, 2020. Applications will be accepted until filled. Salary is $22,273.
