Job Description:

The history of BCC's theatre program is long and rich and has recently added a Certificate in Technical Theatre to help address the rising need of local theatre technicians in a county that boasts the Williamstown Theatre Festival, Shakespeare and Company, Jacob's Pillow, Barrington Stage, and other great performance organizations. BCC is seeking a faculty member who can teach a variety of relevant courses in the field, such as stagecraft, stage management, theatre design, drafting and rendering, and theatre management, to prepare students for work in the Technical Theatre industry. Additionally, we are looking for someone who can strengthen community partnerships by building stronger ties to local theatre companies, festivals, high schools, performance venues, and community groups in an effort to both recruit students for the program and to enhance placement opportunities once students have earned their degrees. In addition to typically teaching 15 credit hours each semester, the faculty member will participate in college service, advise students, and will aid in the production of our two annual shows.

BCC is looking for a candidate who enjoys working with a diverse group of students who are completing a technical theatre certificate, preparing for an associate degree in Fine Arts, or taking theatre courses as part of their general education coursework. The ideal candidate employs active learning practices in their approach to teaching theatre management, production, construction, and design, and will be adept with the use of online teaching tools. The ideal candidate is a collaborative colleague who enjoys sharing their enthusiasm, expertise, and experience in technical theatre with BCC's richly diverse student body.

Job Requirements:
MFA or Master's degree in technical theatre or a related subject area is required. College teaching experience is required with community college experience preferred. Experience working in a technical theatre position for a theatre company is preferred. A strong commitment to student-centered education with experience incorporating multiple instructional strategies and teaching in different modalities (online and on-ground) is also valued.
