Description

The Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness plays a pivotal role in ensuring the continuous improvement and compliance with accreditation standards of the college. This multifaceted position involves coordination, leadership, and data-driven decision-making across various functions within the institution. The primary responsibilities include managing institutional research initiatives, overseeing institutional effectiveness efforts. Serving as the liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), directing the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).

Examples of Duties

INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive institutional effectiveness plan aligned with the college's mission and strategic goals.
  • Facilitate regular reviews and assessments of academic programs and administrative units.
  • Collaborate with departments to develop and implement strategies for assessing and improving institutional effectiveness, including the collection and analysis of data related to student learning outcomes, institutional goals, and program outcomes.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to establish assessment plans and processes, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and SACSCOC accreditation requirements.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on institutional effectiveness findings for various stakeholders, including the senior leadership team and accreditation bodies.

INSTITUTIONAL RESEARCH
  • In collaboration with VP of Academic/Student Affairs, Director of Curriculum Programs, Dean of Student Services research, gather and analyze data for other institutional research projects.
  • Maintain and update the annual fact book (static and electronic versions).
  • Coordinate the administration of curriculum course evaluations, annual student satisfaction survey, graduating student survey and employer's graduate surveys.
  • Disseminate survey and evaluation results to college stakeholders.
  • Oversee and conduct research activities to support decision-making, including data collection, analysis, and reporting on institutional metrics.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity, maintain institutional databases, and develop dashboards and reports for various stakeholders.

QEP PROGRAM COORDINATION AND IMPLEMENTATION
  • Lead in the development, planning, and implementation of the QEP.
  • Communicate information about the QEP to institutional stakeholders.
  • Collect and analyze data as it relates to QEP implementation and assessment.
  • Utilize assessment results for continuous improvement of the QEP. Work closely with Department Directors, Division Deans, Program Directors, and other staff members to ensure that appropriate activities and assessments are being utilized as it pertains to the selected QEP topic.
  • Provide professional development to all employees responsible for QEP implementation.
  • Assist in developing, preparing, and executing a marketing plan for the QEP (on-site training materials, online materials, etc.)
  • Monitor the progress of QEP initiatives and report on outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Update and maintain the QEP webpage.
  • Prepare annual and fifth year QEP impact reports.

COMPLIANCE AND REPORTING
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting: agencv requirements related to institutional research, effectiveness, and accreditation.
  • Prepare and submit required reports and documentation related to institutional research, effectiveness, and accreditation.

SACSCOC LIAISON
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and liaison with SACSCOC, ensuring the college's compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Coordinate the preparation and submission of accreditation reports, including the Compliance Certification and Periodic Review Report (PRR).
  • Monitor changes in SACSCOC accreditation requirements and facilitate college-wide awareness and compliance.
INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT
  • Assist in the development of institutional advancement strategies and campaigns.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Continue to develop professional skills by participating in advanced training, attending meetings, seminars, conferences and workshops, 20 hours minimum/year.
SUPPORT OF MISSION/RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Serve on two (2) College committees.
  • Participate in College events and activities.
  • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the job description.

 

Minimum/Required Qualifications

Masters degree in Business, Education, Statistics, or Mathematics. Masters degree in other discipline areas will be considered with prior research experience. Evidence of skills in quantitative and qualitative research methodology required. Experience with SACSCOC accreditation. Experience utilizing analytic and data visualization software such as Excel, SAS and/or Tableau.
