Ivy Tech seeks qualified adjunct faculty to supplement the Spanish instruction needs of our students at the Evansville, IN campus. This role will expand the Spanish knowledge of students who have demonstrated competency in Spanish through appropriate assessment. This will include introducing additional grammatical structures and vocabulary to further develop speaking, reading, writing and listening skills as well as an appreciation of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world.

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for creating a learning environment that assists students in reaching their goals; and for providing effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided by the School.
 
Major Responsibilities:
Candidates considered for adjunct positions under this postings must be able to provide instruction in person at the Evansville, IN campus.
PROGRAM OPERATION:
  • Perform all instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
  • Provide syllabus appropriate to course(s) being taught to students and follows syllabus content and requirements.
  • Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy as outlined in the Adjunct Handbook.
  • Submits requested information within established timelines.
STUDENTS:
  • Is available to students outside scheduled class time to answer questions/provide assistance.
  • Deal with student concerns and, if necessary, consult with program coordinator to resolve issues.
INSTRUCTION:
  • Meet all scheduled classes of contracted course(s). Use technology such as Blackboard, PowerPoint, etc. as appropriate.
  • In event of emergency absence, notifies program/department chair.
  • Conduct all activities with an appreciation and respect for diversity of people, styles, and views. Promote same as an integral part of one's work.

Hiring Range:
  • $44.00 per contact hour (approximately $2,112 per 8-week course)
Work Hours:
  • Adjunct Faculty positions typically begin at the start of semesters. Specific hours will depend on classes assigned but may include evenings.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Possesses a masters degree, or higher, in Spanish language or Spanish literature or possesses a masters degree, or higher, in any discipline with 18 graduate hours in Spanish language or Spanish literature.
  • Must be located to teach in-person at the Evansville, IN campus
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Native speaker of Spanish.
  • Two years secondary or postsecondary teaching experience in Spanish or a related area.
