Pittsburgh Technical College is a private, non-profit, regionally accredited institution committed to a higher standard of educational excellence focused on academic and professional success. Located on a beautiful 180-acre campus in in Western Pennsylvania, PTC was founded in 1946. PTC awards associate and bachelors degrees and certificates within 10 Schools and 30 Programs. PTC offers a college experience that is empowering and culminates in internships and clinical rotations for on-campus, degree-seeking students.

Purpose of Job
Acting as a First Impressions Specialist, the purpose of this job is to implement the outreach and recruitment function of the college by delivering presentations to high school students in order to generate interest in PTC and to consider enrollment in PTCs associate, bachelors degree, or certificate programs.  This position implements PTC's recruiting strategies for a seamless and successful entry into the college.  This position reflects a commitment to success equity, respect for diversity, and an understanding of culturally responsive practices.
 
Responsibilities
  • Work a territory of assigned high schools in Western Pennsylvania, Eastern Ohio, and West Virginia by personally scheduling and presenting career talks to seniors, juniors, and underclassmen.  The goal at the end of each day of presentations will be to encourage subsequent field trips to PTC.
  • Develops recruiting materials and presentations demonstrating the PTC value and culture.
  • Recruits students to build capacity in PTC instructional programs that support college enrollment goals.
  • Expansion of territory, by maximizing high school exposure and generating interest from community groups, social service organizations, career fairs, etc.
  • Implements a strategic plan for student recruitment, incorporating market research, environmental scans, best practices and the other college strategic plan for a full cycle recruiting process of prospective students.
  • Builds and sustains strong relationships in the high schools and the community, including proactively engaging with community partners and implementing recruitment programs, to support guided entry into the college.
  • Participates in the recruiting team activities including high school and community event attendance, tours, prospect nurturing, and the Welcome Center.
  • Contribute to the overall success of Pittsburgh Technical College by performing additional duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience, required.
  • Master's Degree preferred
Experience Requirements
  • Comfort and experience in public speaking to a variety of audiences, while following a pre-established script, required
  • Experience with Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) recruiting systems or other contact management systems, preferred.
 
Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements
  • Best practices and strategies for student recruitment, including public speaking, and prospective student management.
  • Understanding, or an ability to learn, Pittsburgh Technical Colleges academic and certificate programs, including associated careers and job paths.
  • Application of information technology as it applies to recruitment management (CRM).
  • Ability to effectively use organizational and planning skills, including working on multiple projects.
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Effectively using interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Automobile insurance
  • Personal vehicle that can be used for work-related travel
  • Must pass Act 153 background checks, FBI Fingerprinting and motor vehicle background check prior to starting position.
  • Must provide three (3) professional references

Work Schedule
Full time; 40 hours per week. May require additional work hours, including some evenings and weekends, depending on position needs.
