Assistant Dean, Academic Enrichment and Advising Support (AEAS)

Job Description

ASSISTANT DEAN, ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT AND ADVISING SUPPORT (AEAS), Undergraduate Advising Center, to manage an advising caseload of undergraduate students and assist with implementing a new student success software at MIT, including developing streamlined tutoring and faculty advisor training. Will collaborate on creating a seamless experience for students to access tutoring and other academic support services, and assist with expanding faculty advisor training, including developing an advising resource manual.  Responsibilities include managing an advising caseload of undergraduate students in areas such as course selection, degree planning, career paths, and graduate school opportunities; maintaining accurate, up-to-date records on student advising caseload; collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data related to tutoring support; collaborating on developing and maintaining training materials, shared user manual, and online modules; taking a leading role in managing and maintaining tutoring initiatives, including supporting departments with developing customized tutoring support; developing and delivering group/personalized training; and collaborating on creating and maintaining an advising resource manual.

Job Requirements:

REQUIRED:  masters degree; at least five years advising, counseling, or academic administration experience; experience with advising/student success technology and data analytics; knowledge of student development theories; ability to collaborate with a diverse range of stakeholders, including students, faculty, and staff; strong analytical skills and ability to analyze, interpret, and effectively present data related to student success and retention, advising effectiveness, and/or programmatic outcomes; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex information to a variety of audiences and develop and facilitate workshops; and a flexible approach to working within a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.  PREFERRED:  experience with student retention/advising software, working with tutoring and support centers, and managing/leading others.   Job #23606-9

Hiring range:  $82,000 – 95,000

This is a full-time, hybrid position with occasional evening and weekend work.
