Adjunct Instructor, Business Analytics

Job Description

  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course

Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course

Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction

Uses assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching

Maintains communication with instructors from other divisions in order to keep courses up-to-date and appropriate

Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology

Attends professional development opportunities when possible

 

Qualifications


 


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning

Innovative, creative, motivated and work well with others

Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills

Able to maintain records accurately and be able to meet deadlines consistently

Good organizational skills

Able to perform normal duties with minimum supervision

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential

Requirements:

Master's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration or closely related field OR a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, Business Administration or closely related field

Experience in teaching courses in data-mining, data-warehousing, statistical analysis, predictive modeling, and project management

Proficiency and work experience with one of the following: SAS, R and/or Python programming

Experience teaching/training adults in a professional capacity

Knowledge online teaching methods, best practices and tools

Preferences:

Master's degree in Business Analytics

Five or more years working as a Data Scientist or in a position whose main function requires extensive use of business analytics

SAS base programmer certification and/or a minimum of 5 years experience working with SAS

Other SAS or related industry certification(s), including SAS Statistical Business Analyst.

Demonstrated proficiency and working experience with Tableau or other visualization tools.

Knowledge and working experience with Hadoop or other similar technologies.

Knowledge and working experience with other tools and technologies that support the advancement of the analytics profession.
