The Position

The Executive Director of Workforce Education works closely with the Vice President of Workforce Education and Grants Administration to identify opportunities for building capacity, fulfilling grant program commitments, and generating revenue from the delivery of education and workforce training services to employer partners. The Executive Director will serve as the central position for developing partnerships for customized training and workforce programs. This position has general responsibility for the quality of the courses, programs, and activities in workforce education. In addition, this position manages the instructors and resources for the department and promotes a focus on student learning, retention and success. The Executive Director works closely with directors and coordinators throughout the college to promote workforce education programs.

What You Will Do

1. Under the direction of the Vice President, this position will provide strategic leadership to the Workforce Education unit in support of workforce development, adult basic education, and professional education for individuals, industry leaders, government agencies, and non-profit organizations.
2. Researches market demand for new workforce programs and credentials; manages the development and implementation of new workforce programs with a focus on quality improvement, revenue generation, and expansion of partnerships.
3. Builds and cultivates relationships with partners and organizations that are seeking to expand workforce offerings to ensure programs are aligned with Ocean County and regional employment opportunities.
4. Serves as the WPE department liaison to engage internal and external stakeholders in the refining, or expansion of in-demand training programs and courses that are informed by local partners.
5. Provides direct supervision to Directors, staff, and WPE instructors; hire, train, recruit new employees; employs College policies and procedures in oversight of Workforce Education employees; recommends professional development to remain current within the industry.
6. Collaborates with the instructional design team to plan and coordinate custom workforce training and courses.
7. Collaborates with appropriate academic personnel involved in course development. Works to ensure an educational environment that reflects program quality and industry informed development. Works to develop multiple entry and exit points for student opportunities to bridge to credit programs.
8. Recruits and manages new and existing instructors who are industry experts that are hired to teach workforce courses. Conduct classroom observations, instructor evaluations, performance reviews. Identify areas for professional development.
9. Oversees the development of divisional procedures and processes to ensure the consistent operations for the department. Employs innovative processes with a forward-thinking focus for improvement.
10. Recruits new clients from local businesses, regional employers, community-based agencies and governmental contacts in the region. Interacts agencies/individuals in a variety of on campus and offsite settings, including various advisory workforce meetings, and industry events.
11. Develops program goals and objectives; generates reports as required by the department.
12. Represents the department at designated meetings and on college committees as assigned.
13. Stays up-to-date on projected future trends in workplace learning, such as micro-credentialing and stackable credentials.
14. Adopts standardized procedures, tracks, analyzes, and reports on student employment data.
15. Related duties and projects as assigned.

 

The Successful Candidate Must Have

1. Masters Degree in Business, Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
2. Seven years of experience in a position that included employer engagement and career development, including the following responsibilities: marketing, program development and course delivery, project and budget management, and strategic planning.
3. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, written, and oral communication skills. The ability to relay a professional image and deliver presentations.
4. Four years of leadership and/or program management experience with accountability for individual, team, and program results. Skilled in supervising personnel and ongoing projects.
5. Proven ability to work with individuals at all levels of an organization (internal and external stakeholders), including senior executives. Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work as a team.
6. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and database systems; ability to independently create detailed reports, professional documents, and presentations.

Even Better If You Have

1. Prior experience with adult/non-traditional student population.
2. Prior experience and understanding of setting and meeting strategic recruiting targets, marketing or sales tactics.
