Basic Functions

WORKING DAYS (FULL TIME FACULTY ONLY), THROUGH MARCH  4, 2024, at 5:00 PM **

10-Month Tenure Track Position


COMPENSATION: 
Initial salary placement ranges from $55,714 to $87,247, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $116,888.  A District-paid comprehensive benefit package which includes medical, dental and vision insurances for the employee and dependents, and a $50,000 employee life insurance policy are provided. Representative Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  
Participating in assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes, Program Review, Curriculum Development.
Creating a learning environment that fosters student success, using different teaching modalities. Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.

Requirements

REQUIREMENTS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Masters in sociology OR Bachelors in sociology AND Masters in anthropology, any ethnic studies, social work or psychology OR the equivalent.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

     
  • Ph.D. in Sociology
  • Teaching experience in Sociology at the Community College level.
  • Education and teaching experience in a wide array of the Sociology curriculum, including but not limited to: Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, Introduction to Marriage and Family, Introduction to Social Work, Introduction to Race and Ethnicity, Introduction to Social Science Research Methods. An emphasis will be placed on – Introduction to Sociology. 
  • Teaching experience in Ethnic Studies coursework.
  • Promote the success of a diverse student population through careful preparation of course materials and effective teaching methodologies.
  • Experience in teaching using Canvas and/or other online learning platforms. Victor Valley College requires full-time faculty to teach a minimum of 40% of a full-time course load on-site. 
  • Experience in assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes, Program Review, and Curriculum Development.
 Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic,    cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
