Position Summary

The Data Specialist will work closely with the Director of the Career Center to promote a data driven-culture that encourages critical thinking, curiosity, and innovation. Emphasis will be placed on outcomes that align with University mission, values, and goals.

 

This is a one-year appointment.

Continuation is contingent upon additional funding.

 

Essential Functions         

  • Oversees the Career Center engagement and utilization data and collect, manage, and clean datasets.
  • Employs existing tools to interpret, analyze, and visualize multivariate relationships in data.
  • Creates databases and reports, and perform analyses appropriate to data and reporting requirements.
  • Uses system reports and analyses to identify potentially problematic data, make corrections, and determine root cause for data problems from input errors or inadequate field edits, and suggest possible solutions.
  • Develops reports, charts, graphs, and tables for department use, publication, and presentations.
  • Collaborates with team members on data collection and analysis methods.
  • Assists with quarterly, annual, and CampusLabs reports. Advise annual and strategic goals, optimize efficiencies, and identify strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Translates and communicates data results for use with various stakeholders and constituents.
  • Responds to survey requests from NACE and other associations on behalf of the department
  • Uses AI to assist with data collection and analysis
  • Assists with data request for senior leadership for employers, institutional research and faculty
  • Works closely with the First Destination and research team to compile and review First Destination Survey (FDS) data.
  • Captures and interpret FDS data for academics, University partners, and other Fordham constituents.
  • Provides clear and consistent data on the outcomes associated with a Fordham education and industry trends.
  • Attends First Destination Survey meetings regarding data outcomes with Institutional Research
  • Manages all technology platforms, including Handshake, and serve as point of contact for new systems.
  • Works directly with the Handshake Partner Manager to optimize effectiveness of the platform.
  • Partners with IT to ensure success of weekly Banner import, manually importing data as needed.
  • Ensures accuracy of reporting by monitoring appropriate use of tags and analytics tools.
  • Vets new technology requests from vendors and staff and make recommendations for best practices.
  • Supports the Fordham Career Center in its dedication to person-centered career development with a focus on career education, occupational wellness, and a deep commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience         

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
  • Two years experience in a relevant area of specialization

 

Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills       

  • Proficiency in statistical analysis software and data visualization tools
  • Self-starter with excellent attention to detail, problem solving, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills to convey complex findings to non-technical partners
  • Familiarity with affirmative action and equal opportunity non-discrimination guidelines necessary
  • Familiarity with a student-centered approach to education in the Jesuit tradition preferred
  • Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.

           

Minimum Starting Salary: $62,400

 

Maximum Starting Salary: $69,400

 

Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
