Essential Job Duties

The primary purpose of this role includes but is not limited to:
Serve as TIM Administrator and the submitter of all HR actions. Some of these duties may include:

Employee Recruitment and Selection: Assist in the recruitment process by developing job descriptions, posting vacancies, reviewing resumes, conducting interviews, and making hiring recommendations.

Policy Implementation: Develop, update, and communicate HR policies and procedures in compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations, including ADA, FMLA, EEO, and other relevant regulations.

Data Management: Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases, generate reports, and analyze HR metrics to support decision-making.

HR Consulting: Provide guidance and support to managers and department heads on HR-related matters.

Minimum Experience/Education

  • At least 2-3 years working in a HR office within higher education
  • 2-3 years of working in UNC-specific systems (such as ConnectCarolina) is highly preferred

Knowledge of Higher Education Policies and Regulations: Understanding of specific regulations and policies governing higher education institutions.

Strong Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and administrators, both orally and in writing.

Interpersonal Skills: Capacity to build rapport and establish positive relationships with employees at all levels within the organization, fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment.

Problem-Solving Abilities: Aptitude for analyzing complex HR issues, identifying root causes, and developing innovative solutions to address challenges effectively.

Change Management: Skill in facilitating organizational change processes, including implementing new HR initiatives, policies, and procedures, while mitigating resistance and promoting acceptance.

Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and allocate resources efficiently to achieve HR objectives.

Data Analysis: Competency in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting HR data to inform decision-making, track trends, and evaluate the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives.

Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) and other relevant software applications for managing employee data, generating reports, and automating HR processes
