About the Department

As the largest department within the Facilities Division, Building Maintenance and Operations services the Universitys 16 million square feet of teaching, research and administrative space, and 2,240 acres of ground and transportation infrastructure.

Facilities Operations provides maintenance, custodial, landscape, solid waste removal, utility, mail and motor pool services for most of the University. The 40,000 students, staff and faculty are supported 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with the following goals in mind: delivering cost effective services to the University, ensuring completed projects/maintenance conform to applicable codes and regulations.

Essential Job Duties

This is a skilled position with responsibility to maintain, repair and upgrade the campus fire alarm, Facilities Operations radio, and miscellaneous electronic systems.

Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Performing hardware and software preventive maintenance, repairs and improvements.
  • Complete accurate and professional documents including reports, technical documents and maintenance documentation as required to support job responsibilities.
  • Fill out all maintenance reports on site.

Other Responsibilities

  • And other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience/Education

Associates Degree in Electronics; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Experience in electronic systems maintenance.
  • Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and the general public. Must be able to understand instructions and other communications regarding work assignments and other matters.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Progressive experience in electronic fire protections systems and maintenance.
  • Prefer good working knowledge of local, state and national codes.
  • NICET Level 1.

Required License or Certification

  • Valid Drivers License Required
  • North Carolina Drivers License required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained.

Valid NC Driver's License required
