What You Will Contribute To Altos

This is a full-time day shift facilities mechanic position that is responsible for the operations, maintenance, calibration, and service repairs on equipment used in the Altos Labs San Diego Institute facilities. This position will reside at the San Diego facilities with primary responsibility for this location, including but not limited to specified operations, maintenance, and vendor service oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Experienced mechanic with thorough understanding of industry maintenance and operation practices.
  • Provide hands-on maintenance, repair, fault diagnosis and troubleshooting of site utilities and lab equipment as required with limited supervision.
  • Must be proficient in troubleshooting electrical, HVAC, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical failures.
  • Assure safe, timely and right-the-first-time execution, with proper documentation of all assigned maintenance activities.
  • Identify, anticipate, organize, and initiate acquisition of spare parts, safety equipment, engineering documents, service manuals, and test equipment.
  • Collaborate and communicate appropriately with a variety of site stakeholders to ensure satisfactory performance of facilities equipment and minimize impact to customers.
  • Provide input into the development of technical documentation including, but not limited to user requirements, standard operating procedures, preventive maintenance plans, automated functional requirements, piping and instrument diagrams, and construction projects.
  • Ability to read and understand piping and instrumentation drawings, as well as other standard construction drawings and schedules.
  • Basic computer skills, with the ability to utilize programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe, as well as email.
  • Represent the Facility and Site Services organization on multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Provide flexible and on-call support of 24x7 operations, as needed.
Who You Are Minimum Qualifications
  • High school/trade school diploma or equivalent.
  • 8+ years in an industrial maintenance and operation environment is required, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Demonstrated understanding of regulations and codes (e.g., ISO, OSHA, EPA, NFPA, etc.) that apply to facilities management and a laboratory research environment.
  • Ability to perform a variety of mechanical, electrical and HVAC repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS and BMS/BAS systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Strong technical leadership, able to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Physically able to climb ladders, lift 50 lbs. objects.
  • Ability to work weekends and extended shifts as required.

The hourly range for San Diego, CA:

  • Master Facilties Mechanic:$47.38 - $60.31
