JOB SUMMARY:
The Honors College at Adelphi University invites applications for a part-time instructor of undergraduate Honors courses in Fall 2021. Instructors will teach two (2) 4-credit sections of Modern Condition, which is a two-semester intellectual history sequence. We seek applicants who have completed or are working toward a Ph.D. in intellectual history, philosophy, cultural studies, critical theory or an equivalent field with relevant teaching expertise to oversee undergraduate students in the Honors College
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The candidate will teach two sections of the first-year student intellectual history course entitled Modern Condition. Classes will meet in person on the Garden City campus. The course is a two-semester sequence and the instructor will teach in the fall and spring.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants should have demonstrated research and teaching expertise in the field of intellectual history, philosophy, cultural studies, critical theory or another analytical humanities-grounded discipline.
A Ph.D. or progress toward one in history, philosophy, or a relevant field is required at the time of appointment.
Experience teaching undergraduates is essential.
Courses are writing intensive, and the instructor must be a dedicated teacher of writing.
