Position Summary
The Bluewater Lab at Portland State University is recruiting for a postdoctoral scholar to join us in researching the ecology of marine microorganisms. You will have a strong understanding of microbiology and microbial ecology in environmental and laboratory systems. You will have experience with a range of research methods, which may include molecular biology, flow cytometry, genomic, bioinformatic analysis, and scientific writing. You may also have interest or experience in oceanographic field work and/or scientific diving (SCUBA), but this is not required.

Your professional references will speak to your independence, curiosity, strong publication record, attention to detail, and collegiality.

While we expect independence in planning and conducting your experiments, you will be working with a research team that includes graduate students (MS and PhD), undergraduates, and the PI (Anne Thompson) as well as our collaborators at other institutions. Mentorship of other lab members will be expected, and you can expect mentorship in return, including collaboration on an individual development plan with the PI as well as opportunities to present research at professional meetings.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Biology or related discipline

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement
The starting annual salary for this position will be $56,484 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the the number of full years of relevant post doctoral experience : https://grants.nih.gov/grants/guide/notice-files/NOT-OD-23-076.html
