At a Glance! The Director of Outreach Services is responsible for the strategic development of outreach and recruitment planning within the Lower Columbia College (LCC) service district. This position facilitates the coordination and integration of internal and external outreach and enrollment efforts, and works closely with faculty, staff, students and community partners to develop, implement and assess community outreach activities and campaigns. The Director leads campus efforts to build relationships with and engage K-12 partners, historically underserved students and communities, and adult learners. Reporting to the Vice President of Student Services, the Director is responsible for maintaining high quality customer service and coordination through collaborative efforts across the division and the campus while building a welcoming and inclusive campus community for LCCs diverse student population.

About the team! The Director of Outreach Services is an active participant of LCCs Student Services Leadership Team, focused on collaboration and coordination of holistic student support across a students educational journey. Serving as a liaison from the Outreach department, the Director must build and maintain highly collaborative relationships across campus with Advising, Effectiveness and College Relations, Faculty, Financial Aid, One-Stop, Registration, Testing, and other campus services to ensure excellent service and support to students. The director also supervises a team composed of classified, exempt, and student workers.

DEI at LCC! The Director provides culturally competent leadership to improve access and successful educational outcomes from diverse student populations, especially underrepresented and underserved student populations, and uses an equity framework for assessment, evaluation, recommendations and processes. The Director also plays a key role in the colleges Guided Pathways efforts.

The Director of Outreach Services is 40 hours per week. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some flexibility for evening hours and weekends is needed for outreach activities. This position is primarily on campus but there may be some opportunity for remote work depending on department need. This position is exempt and ineligible for overtime under FLSA and reports to the Vice President of Student Services.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate cultural competence, including awareness and understanding of historically underrepresented populations, and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion
  • Provide leadership in identifying outreach and recruitment initiatives for the college, and implement best practices in enrollment management
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of a data-informed and sustainable strategic enrollment plan to attract, engage, and optimize admission of new students with a particular focus on successful lead generation, funnel management, and market analysis
  • Provide strategic leadership of enrollment services by contributing to the development and application of policies, procedures, and practices that affect the student body in the areas of enrollment management
  • Develop specific activities, marketing, services, and outcomes that focus on historically marginalized and underrepresented prospective student populations and their families, including but not limited to English Language Learners, BIPOC communities, adult learners, and individuals with disabilities
  • Provide support to high school staff in entering grades for articulated courses. Evaluate high school transcripts and/or grade sheets and assist with the transcription of CTE Dual Credit
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Student Services, Faculty, Administrators, and Office of Instruction to help design and implement strategies for student recruitment, onboarding and retention efforts across all programs offered at the college
  • Regularly coordinate and collaborate with Advising, College and Career Preparation, Financial Aid, One-Stop, Registration, and Testing to ensure seamless onboarding for students
  • Oversee, coordinate and expand engagement with prospective students related to recruitment, college information, scholarship and financial aid events, recruiting visits, campus tours, outreach events in local schools and community, Sophomore Career Fair, and other activities related to community engagement and college outreach and recruitment
  • Use Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and other leading indicator data to track attendance, engagement, and return on investment to build on high impact practices; use disaggregated data analysis to improve equity outcomes
  • Oversee hiring, training, coaching, supervision and evaluation of outreach staff, including exempt, classified, part-time hourly and work-study positions in accordance with agreements, laws, and college policies and procedures
  • Promote and enhance a data-informed practice under a continuous improvement model
  • Use an equity framework for assessment, evaluation, recommendations and processes
  • Assist the Vice President of Student Services in planning, designing, implementing and evaluating effective programs.
  • Participate in meetings and committees as requested and assigned
  • Perform other related duties as required

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Communications, Education, Marketing, Social Sciences, Student Development or related field appropriate to outreach and recruiting
  • Previous experience in student recruitment, admissions, marketing, or related field
  • Experience developing student recruitment initiatives, communication campaigns, planning events, or similar projects.
  • Demonstrated experience effectively collaborating and communicating with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Self-starter with high degree of motivation, energy, flexibility and integrity
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Sound organizational and problem-solving abilities
  • Demonstrated experience using presentation tools, social media, and other technology to communicate effectively with stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Awareness of the complex needs of a diverse student population attending community college
  • Experience supervising and training employees
  • Ability to effectively lead and manage change.
  • Knowledge of student development theories and practices
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
