Professor of Agriculture - Adjunct Faculty
SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Adjunct Faculty is involved in continuous assessment and engaged in expanding teaching methodologies and delivery systems to improve student academic success and retention. Faculty may be asked to teach on various campuses, via online/hybrid courses, zoom or via Interactive Television, as directed by the needs of the community for a given semester; course scheduling may include daytime, evenings, and/or weekends. Course assignments will vary by needs of the department.
Required: Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agriculture Education, or related field (including Animal Science or Plant Science) with a combination of two years’ experience in the agriculture industry and/or education. Ability to teach introductory agriculture science classes with the potential to teach related courses in agriculture science. Candidate must communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, relate well to learners of different ages and multi-cultural backgrounds and demonstrate commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
Teach assigned equated load hours as needed by department; develop and grade exams and instruments to evaluate student learning and progress; submission of student grades/progress as required by the programs/policies of the Instruction area.
Updating course content when appropriate. Maintain standard syllabus/outline for each course, in accordance with program/procedures. Update course syllabus/outline annually.
Work on assessment of teaching and student learning outcomes incorporating appropriate methodologies and technology.
Working with the Director, incorporate results of assessments to modify instruction and materials in general education.
Serve as a resource for faculty members.
Serve on local and state advisory committees as directed by the Director.
Assist with maintaining and securing equipment in the laboratory. Develop and conduct field trips.
Work with Department faculty to help develop and support intern, research, and work experiences for students at all levels.
Document evidence of student learning by completing course and/or academic program assessment plans in the institution’s assessment software/application annually.
Support and participate in strategic initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
