Job Summary/Basic Function:
Under direction from the Associate Dean of Student LIFE, the Associate Director of Student LIFE is responsible for planning, developing, assessing, and day-to-day leadership and management of Student LIFE programs and services to meet the diverse needs and interests of the EvCC Associated Student Body and EvCC's students in general. Personnel responsibilities include direct supervision of classified staff member(s) and student employees working in the Senate and its Executive Council.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student LIFE Management & Support
  • Manages the process to select, orientate, train, evaluate, and provide professional development opportunities for student leaders in consultation with the Associate Dean.
  • Analyzes, develops, and makes recommendations to policies and procedures to improve Student LIFE programs efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborates with the EvCC Foundation to identify needs and manage resources allocated by the Foundation to student life initiatives and activities, including fiscal accountability for allocated resources.
  • Oversees the Student LIFE Ambassador program, including supervision of the staff with responsibility for day-to-day planning, organizing, and implementing, of Student LIFE Ambassador programs and services.
  • Assists the Associate Dean with the daily operation of the department, including staffing and administrative support.
  • Oversees, standardizes, and reports to the Associate Dean on the assessment of programs and activities: gathers, prepares, interprets, and presents student success and engagement data; documenting the programs' participation and engagement rates.
  • Supervises all staff in Student LIFE in the absence of the Associate Dean.

Student Clubs & Organizations Leadership
  • Supervises directs the Student Clubs and Organizations program.
  • Serves as contact for the Student Clubs and Organizations Program and campus community members looking to connect with or create clubs.
  • Oversee the development and management of resources for student clubs and club advisors regarding activity and safety planning, group travel, budget and contingency proposals, purchasing, fundraising, reimbursements, conflict management, publicity, room scheduling, catering, etc.
  • Oversees the Club Charter process including providing guidance on constitution development and facilitate the annual Club Activation process for club advisors and student club members/officers.
  • Provide training, ongoing support, resources, and regular check-ins for club advisors.

Associated Student Government Leadership
  • In collaboration with the Associate Dean of Student LIFE providing general direction to, advising, and guiding student leaders regarding college policies and procedures and ensuring full compliance with ASB documents.
  • Co-advise the ASB Vice President of Administration regarding hiring and orientation of Student Senators.
  • Advise student government on the operations and promotion of ASB initiatives (e.g. Food Pantry)
  • Provides oversight of Food Pantry operations, food/supplies procurement, and student training.
  • Advises the ASB leadership on procedures, resources, club constitution review process, and student club related events.
  • Coordinate hiring process and documents S&A fee funded institutional and P/T hourly employees.
  • Conduct quarterly grade and credit checks of all student leaders

Fiscal Management
  • Advises students and staff regarding permissible uses of, and related processes for, accessing student fee funds (e.g. S&A Fee, E-Tech Fee, etc.).
  • Develop, implement, and interpret administrative policies and procedures and interpret related to the ASB Financial Code, ASB Constitution & By-Laws, Club Guide and other applicable EvCC/state policies.
  • Manage assigned S & A Fee budgets, including budget development, expenditure control, payment process, and reconciliation.
  • Manages, monitors, and reconciles assigned budgets and funds.
  • Oversee the collection and deposit of all revenue for S&A Fee funded Club Budgets and supervise club fundraising activities.

Manages Wellness vending machine funding in accordance with applicable grant requirements and established procedures.
  • Oversee the collection and deposit of all revenue for the Wellness vending machine.
  • Monitor and manage check out and expenditure reconciliation for assigned credit cards.
  • Provides recommendations during budget development processes.
Personnel Management
  • Supervises assigned personnel.
  • Makes recommendations concerning hires or terminations, as necessary.
  • Evaluates assigned staff, including discipline and annual review processes for staff assigned to areas of responsibility.
  • Recommends and approves staff development for professional and support staff.

General Duties
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal laws, and college policies and procedures
  • Represents EvCC at assigned industry, community, and College events.
  • Serves on College committees and provides leadership to College committees as may be designated by the Director or President.
  • Leads, participates in, or coordinates projects, committees or task forces as assigned by the Associate Dean, Dean, or Vice President.
  • Discharges other administrative assignments, as directed by the Dean or Vice President.


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited institution and two (2) or more years of work experience in student LIFE/Activities, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Two (2) or more years of experience supervising or leading staff/teams and working with student groups in a community college
  • Experience that demonstrates awareness and understanding of the diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity/expression, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and employees
  • Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications, web-design, and student management systems such as Canvas and PeopleSoft
  • Strong oral, written, public speaking, and interpersonal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in Student Personnel, Student Development or related field
  • Two (2) or more years of experience in budget development and management, event planning, and program development and assessment
  • Proficient in language (s) in addition to English
  • Able to organize and complete multiple and simultaneous tasks within deadlines

Work Hours: Typical work hours are 8 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday with occasional night and weekend hours. The summer schedule is condensed to 4 10s, typically with Fridays off.
