Psychology - Visiting Assistant Professor

Job Description

The Department of Psychology at Hope College seeks applicants for visiting assistant professor positions in psychology beginning by Fall 2024. Primary teaching responsibilities are in introduction to psychology, with the possibility of another course in the applicants area of specialty, with preference given to developmental or clinical or cognitive. The expected teaching load is four courses per semester, typically with two preparations per semester. Applications demonstrating experience and capacity to mentor students and teach courses that address intersections with race, ethnicity, and culture are especially welcome.

The Psychology Department is a national leader in faculty-student collaborative research and we welcome candidates who have a research program that can excite and involve undergraduates. We especially seek applicants who have demonstrated experience effectively working with racially or ethnically underrepresented students.

The Psychology Department at Hope College has 12 tenured/tenure-track faculty and graduates about 80 majors per year. The Psychology Department also contributes to Hope Colleges interdisciplinary major and minor in neuroscience.

Qualifications

Applicants ideally will have a completed PhD in psychology by August 2024.

This position requires remaining in a sitting or standing position for frequent periods of time; uses office machinery such as a computers, printers, copy machines; Occasionally involves moving items over 10 pounds; frequently will move between different offices/workspaces/buildings; and requires effective communication abilities.
