Full job description

A faculty member at Oklahoma City Community College has the primary responsibility of instruction. Secondary responsibilities include supporting the integrity of curricula, encouraging student success, and promoting the mission of the academic division to which the faculty member belongs as well as the College as a whole.

Minimum Education/Experience
Masters degree with 18 graduate hours in Sociology or related field;

Prior teaching experience
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to teach Introduction to Sociology, Social Problems, and at least one of the following: Fundamentals of Aging, Introduction to Social Work, or Race and Ethnicity in the United States.

Knowledge of or willingness to learn computer programs used in the department and on campus (such Moodle and Microsoft Office);

Flexible teaching style to accommodate diverse learning styles and teaching modalities (including online and face-to-face);

Committed to helping students achieve their goals to be successful and attain a college education;

Ability to interact in an effective and encouraging manner with students individually and in groups;
Able to work independently and coordinate work with colleagues and peers;

Ability to work well as a team member in an instructional unit;

Ability to communicate and articulate concepts in an organized manner both verbally and in writing;

Be organized and attentive to detail.

Ability and interest in teaching concurrent classes at area high schools.

Demonstrated positive human relations and communications skills;

Agreeable to meet stated expectations such as being available during office hours and providing means of communication with supervisor(s) and/or the department or division office;
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
1. GENERAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body.

2. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:
Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which one must convey detailed or important spoken information or instructions to others.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discrimination in sound.

Repetitive Motions: Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

3. VISUAL ACUITY:
Requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as but not limited to: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.

4. WORKING CONDITIONS
Typical office environment; this position is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with instructional design in face-to-face and online settings.
Experience or interest in working with concurrent high school students (on campus, online, or in high school settings).
Expertise in one or more of the following sub-fields: gerontology, sociology of health and medicine, social work/human services, or race and ethnicity.
Required Training Work Hours
This is a full-time position. Teaching schedules can include online, days, nights, and/or weekends, and may include concurrent offerings at area high schools. Required institutional activities (other than attendance at commencement) usually occur in the classic eight-to-five Monday through Friday work week.
