The mission of Wellness and Recreation is to inspire a culture of wellness by providing premier, innovative and inclusive programs, services and facilities that promote healthy, active lifestyles to enhance student success.
NC State Wellness and Recreation is seeking energetic employees to ensure the safety of users and participants by preventing and responding to emergencies in the Aquatic Center.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Plan, prepare and instruct safe and effective group fitness classes
- Provide fun and motivational instruction and education on the benefits of healthy living through exercise
- Maintain knowledge of general fitness, wellness, anatomy, kinesiology and physiology as it relates to human movement and muscular conditioning
- Assist with maintaining stereo, music and equipment inventories
- Upkeep cleanliness of storage and sanitize equipment
- Understand and enforce Wellness and Recreation and area-specific policies and guidelines
- Knowledge and implementation of emergency action plan

Assist as needed in all required departmental functions.
Minimum Experience/Education
Post-baccalaureate credentials or a bachelors degree plus alternative or equivalent professional training and experience.

- Current First Aid and Adult CPR/AED certification or obtained before position commencement
- Current nationally accredited Fitness Certification (i.e. ACE, ACSM, NASM)
- Ability to interact with participants, professional staff and coworkers in a professional manner
- Previous experience leading group fitness classes in a collegiate setting
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
One year of successful experience teaching group fitness classes in a collegiate recreation or private fitness setting
Required License or Certification
- Current nationally accredited Fitness Certification (i.e. ACE, ACSM, NASM)
- Current First Aid and Adult CPR/AED certification or obtained before position commencement
Valid NC Driver's License required?
