NC State Wellness and Recreation is seeking energetic employees to ensure the safety of users and participants by preventing and responding to emergencies in the Aquatic Center.
Specific responsibilities include:

Specific responsibilities include:
- Ensure the safety of participants through surveillance
- Monitor areas and recognize signs of danger
- Respond to emergencies and rescue swimmers in danger
- Perform preventative maintenance through cleaning tasks
- Inspect the facility and report any unsafe conditions or equipment
- Enforce guidelines and swimming rules
- Assist with opening and closing checklists
- Understand and enforce Wellness and Recreation and area-specific policies and guidelines
- Maintain working knowledge and implementation of emergency action plan

Assist as needed in all required departmental functions.
Minimum Experience/Education
High school diploma or equivalency
Department Required Skills
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Commitment to customer service
- Demonstrated integrity, ethics, and commitment to creating a welcoming environment
- Ability to maintain clean, appropriate and professional attire
- Commitment to promoting healthy, active lifestyles
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding and First Aid certification
- Demonstrate proficiency in all of the American Red Cross Lifeguard prerequisite skills
- Swim 300 yards continuously, tread water for 2 minutes and complete a timed event within 1 min and 40 seconds
- Ability to interact with participants, professional staff and coworkers in a professional manner
- Previous lifeguarding experience
Preferred Years Experience, Skills, Training, Education
One year of successful experience lifeguarding in an aquatics facility
Required License or Certification
- Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding
- Current First Aid certification
Valid NC Driver's License required?
