Westchester Community College was founded in 1946 as the New York State Institute of Applied Arts and Sciences in White Plains. In 1957, the County of Westchester bought the 360-acre John Hartford estate in Valhalla and designated 218 acres for the community college. This position provides workstation support for college (including extension sites) PCs and peripherals and provides assistance to students, administrators, faculty and staff. Responsible for responding to customer calls regarding computer system related problems. Performs diagnostics and first-line problem resolution of reported issues. Prepares, installs and relocates hardware and software for workstations. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Creates deployments for software updates and new software installations. Assists with answering Helpdesk emails and phone calls, creating service incidents in the Helpdesk system to track issues. Assists in the management of inventory of workstations and associated equipment, updates inventory information, maintains operating records and prepares operating reports. Travels to various WCC locations to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a high school or equivalency diploma and a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a closely related field and one year of experience where a primary function of the position was the installation, operation, maintenance and diagnosis of workstation problems and/or associated equipment including the testing, installation and repair of telecommunications equipment and cable. (Note: Six years of experience in a field, above, can be substituted for the Bachelor's degree). Possession of a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in the State of New York at the time of appointment and maintaining the same while in the title is also required. *This is a Civil Service position. The final candidate will be required to take and pass the Civil Service Exam.*
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency in some/all of the following areas are strongly preferred: PC/Mac/laptop/mobile device installation/configuration/troubleshooting experience. Additional experience with peripherals (e.g. printers, scanners, tablets, phones). Working knowledge of basic network troubleshooting and various software/hardware tools such as network toner, wire mapper, etc. Functional competency in the following software applications: Basic Active Directory management, Office 365, Microsoft Intune, SCCM (e.g. task sequences/deployments/updates), Parallels for Mac, Microsoft Windows 10, and PowerShell.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $67,417 plus excellent benefits.
POSITION EFFECTIVE: The position will remain open until filled.
WORK SCHEDULE: This is an evening position. The work schedule will be 1 pm - 9 pm.
