GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION
Instruct courses in the Certified Medical Assistant Program. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining office hours, participating in professional development, advising students, participating in college committees, facilitating community awareness of the program, and working across departments to develop student communication, computation and critical thinking skills. Faculty are expected to accept courses as assigned which could include non-traditional venues, such as evening, weekend, dual credit, and/or online courses, and must be able to travel to clinical facilities and be flexible to teach as needed. This position reports to the Dean of Health Professions
NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
The cover letter should address how the following knowledge, skills, and abilities were acquired:
Knowledge of 1. Instructional materials and equipment needed for all program courses; 2. Preparing class schedules; 3. Instructional support materials needed in the library and for distance learning courses; 4. Budget management, unit planning activities and program review; 5. Preparation of reports for program, faculty and higher-level college administrative staff; 6. Curriculum revision and proposals; 7. Accreditation requirements to maintain standards and requirements of external accreditation agencies; Ability to: 8. Complete coursework toward instructional methodology; 9. Represent interests, needs, and perceptions of the program; 10. Develop curriculum; 11. Assist in the implementation of faculty evaluation and development; 12. Perform tasks described in the student advisement policy; 13. Maintain custody of College property, and notify division chair in case of loss, damage, or malfunction; 14. Inform division chair of developments in program disciplines; 15. Promote and facilitate community awareness of programs and activities; 16. Maintain relationships with those contacted in the course of work, including local schools, businesses, and other agencies; 17. Support and participate in activities of the College; 18. Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; 19. Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Physical effort-restricted: Sustained posture or intense attentiveness for prolonged periods. Light lifting (less than 30 lbs.), some walking, pushing, and pulling regularly. Work environment-Minimal hazard/exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to assure health and comfort.
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Minimum of an Associates Degree in medical assisting education, nursing, or other health-related profession AND certification in Medical Assisting. Continued employment contingent upon successful completion of Bachelors degree in related field within two years of employment
Experience: Minimum 3 years of full-time work experience in healthcare including experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting performing administrative and clinical procedures performed by medical assistants
Special Requirement: Must hold and maintain certification credentials in Medical Assisting (CMA through the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)American National Standards Institute (ANSI) or under International Organization Standardization (ISO)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors degree in nursing or other allied health profession, or related educational field
