Custodial Service Manager
Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Custodial Manager is directly responsible to the Interim Director of Plant Operations and Maintenance and is responsible for maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and orderly arrangement of college property and formulating work schedules for the custodian supervisor and custodians.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities- Schedules custodian crews to specific jobs in conjunction with custodial requests.
- Assigns custodians to buildings then instructs that workmanship is of acceptable standards and that safety and college regulations are observed.
- Test and evaluates custodial equipment to assure that only safe operating equipment is utilized, and performs on-the-spot repairs to equipment whenever possible to minimize down time.
- May be required to assist personnel perform their duties.
- Submits requisitions for equipment, replacement parts and supplies required for performance of duties.
- Assists the Interim Director of Plant Operations & Maintenance in personnel matters pertaining to employment and training.
- Evaluates personnel as scheduled and/or as required by the Interim Director of Plant Operations & Maintenance.
- Reports unusual incidents, which may arise during a shift.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the Interim Director of Plant Operations & Maintenance.
Qualifications/Certifications/Licenses/Skills

Required:- Associate of Arts Degree or equivalent certification in a field related to custodial management; experience maybe replaced for education
- Must have the ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English and Spanish.
- Three years of supervisory experience.
- Employees driving a LC motor vehicle must have a valid Texas Drivers License.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Required to have extensive custodian knowledge with minimum supervision using only a few definite procedures;
- Walking standing, stooping, and climbing, especially while making inspection tours;
- Manipulate tools and equipment;
- Must work indoors and outdoors; exposed to hot and cold temperatures,
- Unpleasant substances and odors; handle hazardous materials;
- Establish and maintain effective and harmonious communications with other departments related to the nature of housekeeping problems;
- Handle multi-task activities daily and perform them in an efficient and effective manner.

Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment
Work is performed in a standard office environment.
Work inside a well-lighted and air-conditioned area most of the time.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
