Reach & Rally Strategic Plan
While Wake County has one of the nations most dynamic economies, data suggest challenges in providing ladders to opportunity. The county is a nationally recognized magnet for people relocating for high wage jobs, yet it trails in economic mobility. Compared to most other metropolitan regions, people who grow up poor in this community are more likely to stay poor as adults. By identifying as the regions “ladder college,” Wake Techs strategic mission is to confront this challenge through “laddering” or “ladder economics.” Laddering is the continuous development and clear delineation of attainable steps to meaningful career opportunities with living wages through training and education at Wake Tech and in collaboration with our strategic partners. Effective laddering involves the continuous backward mapping of employer skill targets into program requirements, and the forward scaffolding of program elements to jobs and career opportunities in our regional economy.
