Job Summary

The International Institute at the University of Michigan invites applications for the position of Lecturer I beginning Fall 2025. The successful candidate will teach one course in the Fall of 2025, the graduate-level methods course CCS 501: Social Sciences in Historical and Contemporary China. This is not a tenure-track appointment. Due to the replacement nature of this appointment, the funding for this position will only be available in Academic Year 2025-2026.

Responsibilities*

The successful candidate will teach one course in the Fall of 2025, the graduate-level methods course CCS 501: Social Sciences in Historical and Contemporary China. 

Required Qualifications*

Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field of Chinese Studies. Native or near-native proficiency in English is required; at least two years of experience teaching at the college/university level is preferred. 

Desired Qualifications*

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience successfully teaching methods courses at the graduate level. 

Modes of Work

Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually at a minimum and are subject to change at any time, and for any reason, throughout the course of employment. Learn more about the work modes.

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
