Post-doc Position Summary

A postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Hongxue Shi, where the study focuses on liver macrophage efferocytosis of dead hepatocytes in the pathogenesis of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Dr. Shis lab is located in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Physiology at Louisiana State University Health Shreveport, with a long-term interest in chronic metabolic diseases, including MASH and cardiovascular disease (CVD). In association with the Center for Cardiovascular Diseases and Sciences (CCDS), the fellow will receive extensive training and build up the networks in liver innate immunity, cell death, metabolism, and fibrosis progression in MASH and CVD disease. A candidate with a research background in fatty liver disease, obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease (CVD) is welcome to apply and submit a CV to Dr. Shi at hongxue.shi@lsuhs.edu. Qualifications

· Minimum qualifications include a doctoral degree from an accredited institution in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology or related discipline and training within a selected area of specialization.

· Strong/recent basic research lab experience in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, and animal physiology.

Preferred Qualifications

· Proven extensive experience of working with rodents.

· Strong publication record.

· A background in cardiovascular diseases is highly preferred.

Additional Position Information

Occasional travel, M-F 8 am - 4:30 pm. Additional hours may be required (exact hours should be modified as appropriate). Lunch/breaks are dictated by workflow.

Salary: Salary for postdoctoral fellow is in alignment with the most current NIH NRSA pay scale: base of $61008 per year with increases according to number of years of experience.
