The Shaw Center for Children and Families is seeking an Assessment Coordinator to support the REACH team in conducting a new, NIMH-funded study on youth mental health and suicide prevention in the Michiana area. This part-time, in-person position will play a vital role in connecting with families, conducting assessments, and ensuring the smooth operation of a randomized clinical trial under the direction of Dr. Kristin Valentino.
In this highly collaborative role, you will work directly with families, project staff, and researchers to coordinate scheduling, conduct interviews and assessments, and support data collection. The successful candidate will be organized, flexible, and comfortable working evenings and weekends to best meet families needs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Scheduling & Coordination
- Schedule interviews and assessments by managing interviewer and space availability, contacting families, and confirming appointments.
- Use multiple communication methods (phone, text, email, postcards, and in-person visits) to schedule and reschedule interviews.
- Ensure calendars, interviewer schedules, and project spaces are kept current and accurate.
Conducting Interviews & Assessments
- Complete standardized assessments and interviews with participating families in accordance with study protocols.
- Maintain evening and weekend availability to accommodate family schedules.
- Arrive early to prepare for interviews and complete follow-up paperwork as required.
- Stay up-to-date on required training to ensure fidelity to protocols.
Data Collection & Processing
- Assist in ensuring that all data is collected, entered, and stored according to study protocols.
- Label and securely store videos and other materials.
- Support data entry and help maintain tracking databases.
Team Support & Engagement
- Participate in weekly staff meetings to address methodological issues and support project planning.
- Assist with training new staff and managing equipment check-out.
- Contribute to recruitment events and other team-related activities.
Education
High school diploma or GED required; Bachelors degree in psychology, social work, or related field preferred.
Experience
- 6–12 months of relevant experience.
Skills & Attributes
- Experience using standardized procedures for data collection.
- Experience working with families of teenagers.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Flexibility, patience, and calm demeanor.
- Ability to adapt to a schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
