The Campus Security Officer is a part-time, classified position in the Safety & Security Department at North Seattle College (NSC). This position works under the general supervision of the director of Safety and Security enforcing the College rules, regulations and policies relating to the safety and protection of students, staff, faculty and visitors, Perform general law enforcement work to protect life and property, enforce laws and ordinances, maintain order, prevent and investigate crime, detain offenders and respond to emergencies.

Patrol a designated area at NSC by foot, bicycle or car to enforce laws pertaining to local, federal statutes, city ordinances, as well as college rules and regulations.
Assist city or county police and state patrol in cases of emergency.
Respond to calls for assistance and work closely with police officers, firefighters, and senior management.
Inspect buildings and grounds for prowlers, fire, property damage, and other irregularities.
Direct and regulate traffic, investigate accident and/or crimes, gather evidence, and issue citations for violations.
Must be certified and possess the ability to administer first aid if necessary.
Locate witnesses and appear in court as required.
Operate department office equipment to include computer, phone and communication equipment.
Receive reports of criminal activity.
Prepare and distribute daily reports using Windows software.
Maintain surveillance of an area for suspect criminal activity.
Dispatch foot patrol units and monitor alarm systems
Use of 2-way radios and other communications equipment to contact department and other officers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & ABILITIES:
High school graduation or equivalent AND two (2) years of full-time college in Police Science or allied field or two (2) years of police or campus security experience.
Valid State of Washington driver's license.
No previous felony or conviction record.
Willing to become certified and possess the ability to administer first aid, if necessary, within six (6) months after employment.
Able to walk and stand for extended periods of time and to maneuver uneven surfaces including stairs without assistance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Willingness to work all assigned shifts.
Certified to use OC pepper spray, baton and handcuffs.
Proficient in the use of personal computers and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
CPR/first Aid and (AED) Automatic External Defibrillator certified.
Familiarity with (NIMS) National Incident Management System.
Familiarity with (EAP) Emergency Action Plans.
Familiarity with earthquake response i.e, what to do before and after.
Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Should be able to walk and stand for extended period of time.
Ability to maneuver surfaces including stairs without assistance.
