|Position Summary||The Nursing Program at Cuesta College has graduated more than 1,700 students since 1967. NCLEX results are excellent. The program has experienced full-time tenured faculty as well as strong part-time faculty. There is strong community support from all local health care agencies. There is a state of the art skills lab and simulation lab.
Selected applicants will be interviewed for a part-time Simulation/ Skills Lab Instructor position with the Nursing and Allied Health Division. The qualified applicant must be willing to teach part-time, and to assume the role of Simulation Coordinator.
Academic (Faculty) candidates complete the Equivalency Process only
|Minimum qualifications required:
1. Meet the minimum qualifications as set by the California Board of Registered Nursing Practice Act
Section 1425 summarized below.
2. A current California Registered Nursing License.
3. B.S. with 2 year's experience in related field; OR
A.S. with 6 year's experience in related field OR
Equivalency; candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials
requested for an equivalency judgment, indicated on the Equivalency Process link).
-At least one year's experience, within the previous five years, as a registered nurse providing direct
patient care in the related field OR teaching experience in a school of nursing as approved by the Board of
4. Possess and exercise the degree of learning, skill, care and experience required to teach nursing
concepts and skills in Simulation and Skills Lab settings.
5. Sensitivity to and understanding of the broad range and diverse backgrounds of community college
-The equivalent (candidates making application on the basis of equivalency must submit all materials requested for an equivalency judgment, indicated on the Equivalency Process link). OR a valid Community College credential in the discipline
-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
-Teaching experience at a college or university.
-Master's degree in nursing OR Bachelor's degree in nursing AND Master's degree in health education or
health science OR the equivalent.
-Experience with the simulation teaching modality, including design and implementation of simulation
-Experience using computers and/or multimedia equipment including high-fidelity simulation mannequins.
-Demonstrated ability to employ a variety of teaching techniques and strategies to address the diverse learning needs of students.
-Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
-Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with colleagues, students, and industry partners.
-Demonstrated ability and willingness to work with and assist students who have a broad range of skills and academic goals.
-Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to, the mission and objectives of the California Community Colleges.
