Job Description

Gogebic Community College seeks candidates for a full-time Director of Off-Campus Operations for our Copper Country Center in Houghton, MI. This role requires a dynamic, multifunctional, team-oriented individual who is organized, communicative, and familiar with the community college form, function and philosophy to represent GCC in a positive manner. This position reports to the Vice President of Academic Services. The starting salary for this position is $79,321 with a range of $79,321 to $100,954. The successful candidate will lead and manage the personnel, facility, budget and resources effectively while supporting the mission and vision of the college.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Schedule all aspects of the off-campus academic course schedule in relation to times, days and location while eliminating course conflicts.
• Collaborate scheduling with faculty and staff for zoom, remote and online classes.
• Balance needs of the community, students, faculty and staff in harmony with the college’s main campus in Ironwood, MI.
• Hire and orient new adjunct faculty as needed across all subject areas.
• Ensure the safety and security of the facility including all classrooms, study spaces, labs and office areas (i.e., emergency kits, AED, fire extinguishers, OSHA).
• Ensure accreditation standards are met (i.e., concurrent enrollment, faculty requirements, etc.).
• Ability to prioritize duties and assume responsibility for all center operations. Work with the college’s three Vice Presidents and President to ensure instructional, student, and financial components are consistent among locations and services to students.
• Oversee the progress of all academic courses at the CCC.
• Forecast and provide for short- and long-term course offerings and programs. Expand offerings to other areas of interest and where sufficient enrollment can be obtained.
• Assist Student Services with overall student recruitment, selection and retention.
• Work with all area school districts to promote and guide dual enrollment and early college opportunities, while staying in line with MI Department of Education requirements.
• Develop relationships and serve as the college representative to business, industry, K-12 schools, Copper Country Intermediate School District, government clients including MI Works! and BHK.
• Provide strong fiscal decisions and recommendations. Oversee the off-campus budget and recommend financial changes to improve cost efficiency of the center, obtain quotes for large purchases, and stay up to date on technology needs & contracts.
• Advocate for off-campus staff, faculty and students as well as community needs.
• Participate regularly in department, instructional, and college meetings and committees including but not limited to board meetings, President’s Council, strategic planning, fiscal, and student services.
• Collect data for future projections, review of past data for analyzing changes, continuous analysis of reports for sound decisions. Follow and report on enrollment numbers, trends and recommendations.
• Serve as the off campus contact for student, faculty and staff issues as well as deputy Title IX responsibilities.
• Manage functional aspects of the facility including repairs, upgrades, technology, maintenance.
• Coordinate contracted work, custodial and special projects. Update yearly contracts and/or MOU’s with the Copper Country Intermediate School District, CTE and contracted staff.
• Plan and execute student events in collaboration with staff (i.e., open house, orientation, convocation, etc.).
• Direct supervision of Student Services Coordinator and Administrative Assistant.

Required Qualifications:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Administration, Management or related field is required.
• A minimum of two years’ experience in college operations or administration.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
• Experience at the community college level.
• Experience with dual enrollment and early college, recruitment and retention.
• Experience with the Higher Learning Commission, Title IX, FERPA, Jenzabar is desirable
