Job Summary: | The Wisconsin Blood Cancer Research Institute (WBCRI), in collaboration with UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC) and several departments at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (School of Medicine and Public Health), is recruiting a full-time, tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a cutting-edge, extramurally-funded, independent (and collaborative) research program focusing on normal or malignant hematopoiesis and related areas of relevance to blood cancer or bone marrow failure pathologies. This opportunity will allow the scientist or physician-scientist to develop a major research program on basic and translational science in these areas. The highly supportive, collaborative and collegial scholarly environment resides in state-of-the-art facilities. The successful candidate will be a member of WBCRI and UWCCC, an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, which provides outstanding collaborative opportunities and exceptional core facilities, including flow cytometry, informatics, metabolomics, circulating biomarker, genome editing/animal models, pathology and small animal imaging among others. Research programs utilize genetic mouse models, human pluripotent cells, primary human samples and a wide spectrum of systems to address problems on normal and malignant hematopoiesis, including regulatory networks controlling stem and progenitor cells, bone marrow microenvironment, cell therapeutics and mechanisms underlying myeloid leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and bone marrow failure syndromes. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to: innovative models to understand hematopoiesis, genome/epigenome biology, hematology-immunology interface, single-cell biology and multi-omics. The successful candidate will be a trainer in multiple graduate programs in the biomedical sciences, which provide outstanding opportunities to recruit outstanding graduate students. Responsibilities: | The successful candidate will be expected to (1) develop an internationally-recognized research program studying cancer; (2) attract and maintain extramural funding; (3) mentor students, postdoctoral fellows and/or medical fellows; (4) teach; (5) participate in faculty governance activities in the tenure home department, the school and/or University; and (6) participate in professional and/or university service. Actively participate and collaborate with faculty in the Wisconsin Blood Cancer Research Institute, the Department of Oncology (McArdle Laboratory for Cancer Research) and other relevant departments. |
