Job Summary
The Student Services Specialist in the Office of Student Life and Leadership works in conjunction with the Student Life Manager to support and advance the student outreach and retention goals of the College. The successful candidate will create innovative programs that promote student engagement, with a particular emphasis on developing programming with Faculty and Staff that complements student’s Field of Interest. This will be accomplished through the development, implementation and evaluation of campus-wide programming, such as Welcome Week, Club Rush, Fall Pumafest, Spring Pumapalooza and other events.. This position will also serve as the primary support for student clubs and organizations, as well as their Advisors and Officers.

Candidates will perform a multitude of administrative tasks, including, but not limited to event set-up and take down, preparing paperwork, creating documentation, entering data, generating publicity, assessing program and learning outcomes, monitoring budgets, purchasing, and interacting with the various stakeholders on-campus and in the community.

Essential Functions
60% Plan and coordinates large and small scale campus-wide extra and co-curricular events on a monthly basis
30% Support student club, club advisors, and student government with day to day operations and logistics.
5% Coordinate program logistics; market/advertise and recruit for student engagement programs; develop program budgets
5% Other duties as assigned by Director.

Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in business administration, education or directly related field, and one year of experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

OR

An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

Desired Qualifications

  • Conferred (earned) Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Professional or Para-Professional experience working in a college or university Student Life, Student Activities or Residence Life Office.
  • Experience creating and implementing original student and/or community engagement events
  • Experience with program promotion in either print or digital formats
  • Public speaking and/or training experience
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, often with competing deadlines
  • Special Working Conditions
  • May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen.
  • Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations.
