Brent Calvin, interim president for College of the Sequoias in California, says he will not seek permanent position with the college

Brent Calvin, interim president for College of the Sequoias, announced Tuesday he will not seek a permanent position with the college when his appointment ends in July.
Calvin, who previously served as the college's athletic director and dean of business and social sciences, cited the desire to spend time with his family as a driving factor behind the decision.
"The timing isn't right. I have four young kids at home," he said.
"It's tough not to look at taking a permanent position as a 10-15 year commitment."
He was appointed by the college's board of trustees to serve on a 12-month interim basis after the resignation of then-president Bill Scroggins. He said he didn't take the interim position with the idea of turning it into a permanent job.
"It was more about ensuring that someone who knew our community and our campus would be here for the next year," said Calvin, a Visalia native and COS alumnus.
